ASK is a registered charity with a charitable status of education.
ASK is the recognised accrediting body for Systematic Kinesiology.
All reputable professionals belong to a professional body whose function is to define, promote, oversee, support and regulate the affairs of its members. This enables us to maintain a professional standard from which the public can have confidence and is in the public interest.
ASK sets a national standard for Kinesiology practitioners and tutors and provides a register for lay people and professionals to use giving confidence in the use of Kinesiology by qualified practitioners.
Professional associations maintain the highest possible standards in their field of expertise. This includes training, practice and teaching.
Professional associations help to tell the public that you have a certain standard of practice - a professional standard. Belonging to ASK gives the public confidence that you are trained to a high standard in the specific area of Kinesiology and follow a professional code of conduct.
An association is there to encourage communication between like minded people and to encourage sharing of ideas and resolving challenges. The information on the website and leaflets helps the public and future potential practitioners see what our therapy is all about.
It encourages practitioners to maintain their high standard, competence and performance. It shows others that we move forward in our professional development together keeping our skills and knowledge up to date by doing 'continued professional development '(CPD). CPD is a reflective practice whereby we use our knowledge and experience and build upon it to develop ourselves professionally so that we maintain an excellent standard incorporating new ideas and techniques that are accredited.
Belonging to an association is important when establishing it as a therapy available to the NHS or private medicine and when interacting with other professionals who belong to their own specific professional body.
As a professional body we seek good relationships and work in a cooperative manner with other healthcare professionals.
The ASK encourages networking for problem sharing and problem solving, encourages practitioners to develop professionally and offers best educational practice. It encourages collaboration with the NHS and is involved in maintaining high teaching standards with ongoing curriculum development and standard setting. The Kinesiology National Occupational Standards (KNOS) have been granted and ASK accredited courses comply with, and exceed, the KNOS requirements.
From our extensive experience in the ASK office we recognise that the public are becoming more educated in recognising the benefit of working with a registered professional member of a recognised association and want to see evidence of that in the form of certificates of qualification.
ASK promotes best practice and its aim is to increase the profile of systematic kinesiology throughout the UK and abroad.
