The accounts are audited by Ian Barr, a qualified accountant who specialises in dealing with charity accounts. He is the person Brian Butler used since the beginning of ASK. Once he has approved the accounts they are logged at companies house and with the charity commission and a copy is available for any member to see at any time.
The charity commission introduced an accounting system known as “Statement of Recommended Practice” (SORP) which ASK has followed since the SORP inception in 2006.
The full SORP report is 25 pages long. An abbreviated format of the accounts, as recommended by the ASK accountant, is presented to the members at the AGM.
The accounts are submitted annually to the charity commission and companies house and may be viewed online here
